Arco e Torre Sineira

O arco e a torre da Câmara Municipal foram construídos na segunda metade do século XVIII, com o intuito de dignificar o edifício dos Paços do Concelho. Sobre o arco foi edificado um quarto e oratório para alojar o carcereiro, que dormia junto da cadeia, localizada nos baixios da Casa da Câmara, e a torre para, aí, serem colocados o relógio e os sinos que estavam guardados na igreja Matriz. A torre, construída em alvenaria de pedra rebocada e caiada de branco, possui uma altura de 27 metros e oferece uma vista panorâmica sobre a cidade da Ribeira Grande.

Arch and Bell Tower

Ribeira Grande’s arch and tower were built during the second half of the 18th century, with the objective of dignifying the town hall’s building. Above the arch was a room and an oratory to accommodate its jailer, who slept next to the jail house, which was located on the bottom floor of the town hall. The tower was constructed to place the clock and the bells which were stored at the Matriz church. It was built with masonry stone and white washed. The bell tower has a height of 27 meters.
